v12.5 is out: Searching made simple, announcing OmniSearch
Dear users,
I am very glad to announce a long-awaited feature in DaDaBIK 12.5: Omnisearch!
I worked hard to make Omnisearch as intuitive as possible for end users, and I hope it will enhance your users' experience with DaDaBIK. Let me know what you think.
What is Omnisearch?
In addition to the existing Advanced Search and Quick Search options, DaDaBIK now offers a powerful one-field search tool. Omnisearch allows users to search across all compatible fields in the current table or view through a single, intuitive search bar.
Key Features
Broad Compatibility: Omnisearch works with almost all field/content types in DaDaBIK, including text, date, file, and lookup fields.
User-Friendly Lookup Searches: For example, if you have lookup fields such as "City" (select_single) or "Interests" (select_multiple), users can seamlessly search linked field values.
Date Format Recognition: Omnisearch respects the date_format setting you’ve configured. In this example, with the date_format set to literal_english, a user searching for "Jan 9" successfully finds a match.
How It Works:
Omnisearch automatically activates when all Quick Search fields are disabled for a table (unless you disable the feature by setting $enable_omnisearch_feature = 0).
A helpful tooltip on the search button informs users about the fields being searched, making the process even more intuitive.
